21st Century Leadership
Best-selling author James Strock shows that this is a golden age of leadership—with unparalleled opportunities for service.
Serve to Lead: 21st Century Leaders Manual is praised by Warren Bennis as “an invaluable toolkit for all who seek to lead in the 21st century.” This indispensable, award-winning manual illuminates the fundamental changes underway in leadership, management, and communication in all sectors. It includes many actionable ideas for creating value through effective service.
Serve to Lead features the practical wisdom of an extraordinary array of sources, including: Jack Welch and Winston Churchill, Amazon.com and Starbucks, The Beatles and Bob Dylan, Madonna and George Patton, Ronald Reagan and Mahatma Gandhi, Marianne Williamson and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Serve to Lead builds on the fundamental insight of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., declaring that “Everyone Can Lead—Because—Everyone Can Serve.” 21st century leadership is, at its essence, servant leadership. At its most practical, leadership is a spiritual practice.
Strock has also written two books on presidential leadership. They are used widely in business, government, not-for-profit organizations, and the military.
Reagan on Leadership: Executive Lessons from the Great Communicator distills the timeless lessons of one of the great leaders of our era. Legendary financier T. Boone Pickens says, “Reagan on Leadership should be required reading in business schools across America.” In his foreword to the updated, revised edition, management authority Tom Peters says the book is a “brilliant analysis of what made Reagan tick.” Strock’s insights are sharpened by his personal experience in senior positions in the Reagan administration and re-election campaign. In 2014, he presented the keynote address at the annual Reagan birthday celebration banquet of the Ronald W. Reagan Society, held at the president’s alma mater, Eureka College.
In the words of Colonel David Hackworth, Theodore Roosevelt on Leadership is “a masterpiece.” It examines the leadership genius of one of America’s—and the world’s—most memorable leaders. TR’s lessons from the early 20th century have new resonance amid the turbulence of the early 21st century. As recounted in the landmark PBS series, ‘The Roosevelts,’ Theodore Roosevelt established a legacy of leadership that continued through Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt, and many others to the present day. Strock is a long time trustee of the Theodore Roosevelt Association, and has spoken about TR in many venues.
